Job organizational context
The Office of Research-Innocenti is the dedicated research office of UNICEF. It undertakes and commissions research on emerging or current issues of relevance for children in order to inform the strategic directions, policies and programs of UNICEF and its partners. The office explores emerging issues, identifies research gaps, and brings together existing researchers to support or undertake new research, data collection and analysis to address critical questions.
Purpose Of job
Under the supervision of the Chief of Communication, the Executive Assistant (EA) is responsible for executing a broad variety of support functions to the Communication Unit, the respective sections and more broadly to the Office of Research-Innocenti. This will require a sound knowledge of UNICEF administrative procedures, processes, policies, rules and regulations. The tasks assigned are expected to be carried out with a high level of independence.

Eligibility Criteria
Education
- Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical courses or a university degree related to the work of the organization is an asset.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of solid work experience in administrative/budget/contracting and clerical support functions is required.
- Working knowledge of UNICEF systems (SAP/VISION), policies and procedures are considered an asset.
- Excellent knowledge and proficiency in the use of office standard computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) are required.
- Strong writing, interpersonal and communication skills are required.
- Non-Italian candidates must be in possession of a valid work permit for Italy
- Work experience with the UN is an asset
Language requirement
- Fluency in English (spoken and written) and Italian is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of integrated management information systems is necessary, as is training and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other UNICEF software like SharePoint.
- UNICEF administrative policies and processes are well-understood.
- Skills and abilities in organisation, planning, and prioritising.
- Ability to deal with visitors calmly and politely.
- Confidentiality, initiative, and sound judgement are all important qualities.
- Ability to collaborate successfully with persons from various national and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to collaborate as part of a team to achieve a common goal and to mentor more junior support employees.
