Duties & Responsibilities

The primary function of this post is to improve relevance, quality, availability and use of data and contextual information on children and women throughout UNICEF. The work focuses on the areas highlighted by the MTSP and, for this post, gives particular emphasis to immunization plus. This function is carried out in collaboration with main institutional partners, in particular WHO, national governments and other organizations with expertise in these areas

Responsibilities Includes

• Obtain important immunizations related to vaccine monitoring programs and primary health care systems, with continuous evaluation of the current data centre and advanced data science methods, as well as a review of existing methods, indicators, and measurement tools.
• Expand existing measurement tools such as the Shared Reporting Form; develop new recording tools for immunization programs and statistics for children; monitor key indicators for international reporting by companies; and pre-modelling of child health outcomes and predictive analytical capabilities within D&A
• Evaluate measurement and monitoring tools in camp conditions, develop guidelines to be used and provide support for their use at the regional and national levels.
• Collaborate with the World Health Organization and other partners on immunization rate and styles and other related program information at global, regional and national levels.
• Perform data testing and vaccination data analysis to be included in representation, evidence-based products, and monitoring and development programs.
• Integrate technology inputs into UNICEF programs in key areas identified for mission purposes.
• Guidance-related collaboration with international partners to enhance the efficiency of data science work and position UNICEF as a leader in vaccination data.
• You have represented UNICEF at international conferences and forums and for major partner meetings on data vaccine and data-related activities.
• Provide technical advice on the reporting of vaccine-related data as required, including responding to requests from senior management and external agencies and organizations.
• Contribute to the development of capacity within the organization to better maximize the use of vaccine-related data in policy, planning, planning and advocacy.
• Create data pipelines, data usage tools, and content reporting for children and women in the area of ​​primary immunization and health care.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification & Experience

• An advanced university degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, statistics, applied mathematics, economics, or quantitative social sciences
• At least eight years of experience at national and international levels in global health quantitative analysis 
• Experience with immunization programmes and working with multiple types of data sources (household surveys, administrative data, supply data, mobility data etc.) 
• Strong statistical and modeling competence (estimating and predicting child health outcomes preferred); experience analyzing geospatial data highly desirable.
• Fluency in R or Python highly preferred.
• Strong experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Shiny (preferred), Tableau, PowerBI) an asset.
• Experience using statistical analysis and machine learning methods to surface insights and build data-driven products an asset.
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

• Mobility is a condition of international professional employment with UNICEF and an underlying premise of the international civil service.

• If reassigned or relocated to New York, candidates may be expected to relocate to a new location again during the initial contract or assignment period.
