Description

Applications are invited for United Nations Internships In Bangkok 2022 The Environment and Development Division, Environment and Development Policy Section internship is for two months with an opportunity for extension, if required by the division.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office to which they are assigned.
The environment and Development Policy Section (EDPS) plays a leading role in facilitating the analysis, development, promotion and dissemination of innovative policies in the field of environment and development.
The Asia-Pacific region is currently not on track to achieve the SDG 13 targets. Most vulnerable countries and communities must simultaneously deal with compounding risks associated with climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic. Climate change and climate-induced disasters fundamentally threaten development in Asia-Pacific, often undermining the enjoyment of all human rights, and exacerbating societal inequalities by disproportionately burdening the poor and the most vulnerable groups, including women and children, indigenous populations, gender minorities, migrants, displaced and persons with disabilities. Between 2000-2019, eight out of the top ten countries by disaster occurrence and seven out of ten countries by disaster-affected population are in the Asia Pacific.
EDPS is developing knowledge products, policy briefs, infographics, and modelling tools to support countries in Asia-Pacific to accelerate the ambition of their NDC pledges to enhance climate mitigation and adaptation actions to safeguard impressive development gains. Such NDC pledges need to be aligned with green recoveries post-COVID-19, which will support the rapid transition towards an equitable low-carbon and climate and disaster-resilient development pathway.
